TASK FORCE ON HIV/AIDS?
The New Mexico Governor’s Task Force on HIV/AIDS is a group of
citizens that develops position statements on policy issues related
to HIV prevention and treatment.
The Task Force was created in 1991 by Executive Order of the
Governor. The official mission of the Task Force is:
1) to develop statewide HIV/AIDS positions that focus on limiting
the spread of the disease and insuring high quality and cost effective
health care for HIV-infected people and
2) to report its recommendations to the Governor and appropriate
Cabinet Secretaries in the area of HIV/AIDS policies.
The Task Force does not conduct any political lobbying. However,
individuals and groups use its position statements in their efforts
to change laws or corporate policies.
TASK FORCE MEETINGS?
Anyone who is interested in HIV/AIDS policies in New Mexico can
attend meetings of the Task Force. Meetings are held monthly,
usually on the 2nd Thursday of each month from 10 am to approximately
